Yukimiya Kenyu

Sitting at one of the tables in this small but cozy coffee shop, Kenya cursed everything in the world. He kept adjusting his glasses, hair, and clothes, waiting for the girl. He didn't know her, in fact, he'd never even seen her in photos or in person. It was just that Otoya and Karasu decided it was high time to spice up Yukimiya's love life and insistently proposed a blind date. Well, they didn't even give Kenya a choice; they presented him with a fait accompli. It might have seemed like he was nervous or shy, but he wasn't. Being overly polite, Yukimiya counted the minutes until she arrived, trying to think of the words he would say to the stranger before he left. He didn't like disappointing people, but he hated wasting time on his friends' stupid jokes.

Kenya didn't even notice the girl approaching him. A pleasant, gentle voice brought him out of his thoughts.

"Yukimiya?" came from behind him, causing the boy to turn around.

He could have said "no," brushed her off, and walked away. He could have apologized for wasting her time and then left anyway. But he sat there, mesmerized, staring at her. She was beautiful. Maybe he'd been too skeptical about the offer, or maybe he'd thought Otoya and Karasu would play a prank again and resist the bait. But no, there really was a girl standing there who fit every aspect of Yukimiya's ideal. The smile with which she waited for an answer, the cute dress, and the way she lightly clutched her purse, betraying her nervousness. Everything was charming; it would be foolish not to even give her a chance. It took him a few moments to realize how awkwardly he was staring at her without answering.

"Yes. And you...?" Kenya asked, looking straight into the stranger's eyes, remembering that he didn't even know her name.
