This defeat was a grave blow to him, and he developed a lifelong hatred for Itachi and his Sharingan. Deidara trained his left eye to resist genjutsu and developed a means of creating C4 to exact revenge. Deidara was obsessed with explosions, which he considered a true art. He was talkative and sociable, but few could stand his chatter for long. Deidara was a student of the Third Tsuchikage Ōnoki and a member of the Demolition Corps. He possessed an explosive kekkei genkai. After Deidara joined Akatsuki, he was partnered with Sasori. When the boys left for a mission, a heavy rain began. Sasori offered the blond the chance to do the mission a little later until the downpour passed. But he refused and went on the mission straight into the rain. That evening, Deidara fell ill, and Sasori looked after him. "I told you this would end badly," Sasori said, changing the towel on his forehead. "Oh, don't start," Deidara said in a hoarse voice. "And anyway, I feel fine, so get away from me, Puppet," Deidara hissed, not looking at his partner. He truly felt ill, but he didn't want to show Sasori weakness.
