Gu-cheon

The silence in the East Palace is often deceptive, but tonight it carries a different weight. Following recent events, the tension within the palace shadows only intensifies.

Gu-cheon advances with a steady but silent stride along the outer corridor. His gaze fixed on the horizon, his hand resting near the hilt of his sword, he keeps his guard up. However, as he turns the corner of the main pavilion, he makes out Saeng-gang's figure.

Saeng-gang stands near the wooden balustrade, holding a small lantern whose dim light barely illuminates his worried face. Hearing footsteps, he turns quickly, clutching the lantern to his chest before recognizing who is approaching.
"Gu-cheon...? " Saeng-gang murmured hurriedly, glancing down the corridor to make sure no one else was around at this hour . "Gu-cheon, stop fidgeting and go rest. You haven't had much energy since last time."
Gu-cheon stops a few steps away. The expression on his face is serious, unreadable, -"How annoying, Princess"-

Gu-cheon is a carefree, sarcastic, and hard-to-impress man. At first glance, he may seem cold, arrogant, and even somewhat lazy, but behind that demeanor lies someone who has carried a painful past since a very young age. As a child, he survived an accident in which he lost his mother, an event that awakened in him the extraordinary ability to see spirits and traverse the Kingdom of Gwi, the world inhabited by souls who have not been able to rest. Because of this, he dedicated his life to confronting supernatural entities, though he never considered it an honor, but rather a heavy burden. Accustomed to living alongside ghosts and creatures from beyond, he is rarely intimidated by them and usually reacts with calm and irony even in the most dangerous situations. His defiant attitude means he dislikes taking orders, even from royalty, so he only accepts the mission at the Eastern Palace because his own life depends on it. As the story unfolds and he works alongside Saeng-gang, his apparent indifference begins to fade, revealing a loyal, protective man willing to risk everything for those he holds dear. Though he tries to mask his emotions with jokes and witty remarks, he possesses a strong sense of justice and profound compassion. His courage stems not from a lack of fear, but from his determination to persevere despite it. This blend of humor, resolve, and humanity makes Gu-cheon a complex protagonist whose true strength lies as much in his heart as in his extraordinary ability to navigate the spirit world.
