Abbacchio became a police officer after graduating from high school. He was dedicated to protecting people, but soon after patrolling his area, he realized that his job had several contradictions. Although many police officers risked their lives to protect them, people were never grateful, always trying to evade punishment and even sometimes accusing some officers of not doing their jobs. And even criminals who had been caught by a police officer could easily get away if they had enough money. One night, a burglar was reported to have broken into an elderly man's house. Abbacchio and his partner arrived at the scene and split up to apprehend the burglar. When he entered the house, he found the burglar trying to escape through a window. It turned out that the burglar was the same man from whom Abbacchio had accepted a bribe earlier. The man recognized him and tried to reason with him, saying that if he let him go, he wouldn't cause him any more trouble, but Abbacchio was determined to arrest him. The man said that if Abbacchio arrested him, then everyone would know he had accepted the bribe. As he spoke, the man began to pull a gun from behind him, but before he could shoot, Abbacchio's partner rushed in, shooting the man, but he too was shot instead of Abbacchio, dying instantly. Although Abbacchio was punished for accepting the bribe, it was the fact that his partner died because of his corruption that truly haunted him. He lost his purpose in life and eventually joined Bruno's gang, finding satisfaction only when he received a mission of great importance, because it allowed him to forget everything else. [14]

In the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure universe, a Stand is the physical manifestation of a person's soul and life force. It functions as a guardian spirit or a special power that fights and obeys its owner, who is called the "Stand User."

Moody Blues. It is a recognition and tracking entity capable of recording and reproducing the exact past of any person or place.
Appearance and Characteristics Humanoid design: wears a semi-transparent suit of white and metallic violet. Digital clock: has a counter on its forehead that marks the playback time. Eyes: their design simulates the heads of a cassette player. Main Ability Past Replay: mimics the physical form and accurately repeats the actions and movements that occurred in a place during a specific time. Vulnerability: while recording or playing past events, the Stand cannot attack and Abbacchio must remain immobile, leaving him exposed to danger.

When Abbacchio first meets Giorno, he surreptitiously offers the new member a cup of tea, but fills it with his own urine instead, as part of a daring hazing ritual.[11] During their time together, Abbacchio never ceases to confront Giorno and express his contempt for the new member. Not only does he remain highly critical of Giorno's every action and word, but he also refuses to demonstrate his Stand, Moody Blues, in action in front of him, not trusting Giorno to keep his Stand a secret.[12] Being somewhat proud, Abbacchio vows to hit Giorno after the younger member consistently demonstrates his own optimal course of action whenever their opinions differ. However, although he despises Giorno and mistreats him from time to time, he never goes so far as to actually strike him. Despite himself, he is impressed by Giorno's actions. For his part, Giorno respects Abbacchio as a senior member of the team. When Abbacchio visits Pompeii, he mentions that as a child, he used to walk there from Naples.[13] This shows that he had a prior interest in the ruins.

Abbacchio was one of the more serious members of Team Bucciarati. Outside the group, he was one of the most level-headed, taking the objectives seriously and allowing very little to distract him. The few times he smiled were at the discomfort of others (for example, laughing at Giorno's seemingly absurd predictions and humorously asking Illuso if he had lost something after successfully taking Mr. President's key).[6] He never participated in his teammates' antics. However, he frequently engaged in a handful of informal group conversations, especially during lunch. On multiple occasions, Abbacchio took pleasure in Mista and Narancia's conversations despite their random topics, inserting logical responses into their tangential nonsense (for example, discussing what vegetarians would wear or whether human flesh would taste good).
He was very dedicated to his group's mission, aiming to absolve himself or forget his past mistake, and also as a way to keep his mind off past memories. It is said that Abbacchio renounced life after the incident that ended his career, and that he could only offer his body as a kind of "soldier" to further the goals of his superiors.[4] Furthermore, he considers his ability to accomplish a given mission a source of honor and pride. As such, he prioritizes the completion of a mission over the lives of his allies, and shows a willingness to leave Fugo to his fate.[7] During the fight against Illuso, he readily severs his own right hand to give Giorno the key to Mr. President, accepting imminent death almost immediately before Giorno saves him.[8]
He was also a stern and distrustful person, believing that trust must be earned.

Abbacchio was a tall man with a slender build. On his head, he wore a kind of hat that served as a headband.[3] He had long, light-colored hair, divided into spikes that curved outwards or upwards at each end. He also painted his lips black (manga) or blue-purple (anime).
His attire consisted of a long, dark coat without collars, featuring ties that crossed over his bare chest; dark trousers; and black shoes. His belt bore a silver/gold buckle with the letter "A".
