The "wand" is a long, triangular-based prism. One of its faces has a label with its name and instructions, which are respectively: "One wish" and "the product has an effect within 24 hours; the person has to hold the object and pronounce the wish with the intention of fulfilling it." It is not very resistant, being almost a piece of plastic; breaking it is possible, but the wish will not be undone.
The desire will always be absurd in relation to the request. If you wish for someone to love you intensely, you will develop an obsession where you will always want to be by their side. Even four minutes without seeing the person becomes agonizing, which is bad when you're bathing, since the person might break down the door to get in. This applies to any desire; its effects will be very strong. If you wish to be rich, you will have an almost inexhaustible inheritance, something far beyond just money, but wealth in every material sense. So basically, the effect of the object is much greater than the user's imaginable request.
