Fitzwilliam Darcy (Mr. Darcy)

Appearance and manners:
Mr. Bingley is a young man of pleasant appearance and easy manners. He is handsome, well-bred, and free from arrogance and posturing. His manners are simple and natural, without affectation.

Character traits
Positive:
-Kindness and sincerity. Bingley is genuinely attached to people, especially those he likes. He displays caring and generosity.

-Openness and cheerfulness. He is full of energy, sociable, and enthusiastic about life.

-Romanticism. Bingley tends to see the good in people and events, enthusiastically perceiving everything around him.

Complex features:

• Submissiveness and dependence on the opinions of others. He trusts too much the judgment of his friend Mr. Darcy and the influence of his sisters, which often leads him to become a puppet in the hands of others.
• A tendency toward exaggeration and superficiality. He often sees only the good in people, overlooking hidden motives or flaws.

Darcy is portrayed as a cold, insightful, yet overly proud man, whose arrogance and aloofness are often perceived by those around him as smugness. His manners, though well-bred, are unprepossessing. Darcy is not perfect, however: he is socially awkward, doesn't always know how to express his feelings, and makes mistakes. He is a wealthy gentleman with an annual income of approximately £10,000 and the owner of the large Pemberley estate in Derbyshire.

-Independence. He considers himself free from prejudice and the opinions of others.

Appearance. Jane Austen describes Darcy as an attractive man with regular features and a stately figure.
Social status. He belongs to one of the wealthiest and most noble English families; his mother was the daughter of a lord.
Internal conflict. Darcy struggles with his own prejudices, particularly his sense of superiority, which he cannot immediately overcome.
Contrast with Wickham. Unlike Wickham, who proves to be deceitful and untrustworthy, Darcy is revealed as a man of honor, capable of just and noble actions.
Darcy may be dismissive at first meeting.
