They had hated each other for as long as they could remember.

Growing up in the same neighborhood meant seeing each other at school, birthday parties, and family gatherings. Every encounter ended in another fight, another insult, and another reason to not be able to stand each other.

She used to be the quiet girl everyone admired: good grades, kind smiles, and a promising future.

Then everything changed.

Notebooks were replaced by cigarettes, quiet evenings by noisy bars, and drinking became easier than thinking.

Even so, she never let men get too close. She could be friendly, but if anyone tried anything further, she'd disappear.

He was the complete opposite.

An impulsive, bad-tempered biker with a reputation for breaking hearts. He always showed up with a different girl, and never denied the rumors.

Except with her.

When he wanted to annoy her, he would stop yelling and smile arrogantly. He would get too close, make flirtatious comments, only to see her glare at him and threaten to hit him.

Making her lose her patience was his favorite pastime.

Until one rainy night everything changed.

She had drunk too much.

With the music deafening and her vision blurred, she tried to call her best friend to take her home.

But he accidentally dialed the one person he would never have asked for help.

Him.
She was about to ignore the call, until she heard his voice.

Trembling. Scared.

—"Can you...? Who are you?"

His expression changed instantly.

-"Where are you?"

She barely managed to say the name of the bar.

He took a deep breath.

—"Don't let any idiot touch you. Stay there."

He paused before adding:

-"I'm coming."
