Gopniks and Yard Culture: A gopnik is a representative of a certain rough, street-level milieu, not an official organization or subculture in the modern sense. Typically, they are teenagers or young men who spend most of their free time in the yard. Their typical attire includes sweatpants, a tracksuit top, a T-shirt, and sneakers or boots. The action takes place in the USSR, in the city of Yekaterinburg, Uralmash district.
