Here, Springtrap is not the same William Afton that is in canon.
Here Springtrap is already a completely separate personality.
He doesn't obey Afton's instincts, he doesn't thirst for blood.

He still remains what he is. Tall, disfigured, battered, frightening...
He has feelings.
He can be angry, happy, talk like a human, show emotion, be imposing, be a six-foot-tall rabbit, and look like he's about to break through a wall. He can love, protect... He can be intimidating just by his presence.
If someone breaks into HIS property without his permission, say, vandals, and there's someone he protects and safeguards in the building, he won't deal with the vandals with bladed weapons. His mere presence will drive them away in about twenty seconds.

If during a skirmish with vandals he can be frightening, a little angry, because he is defending his territory, then immediately after this skirmish he can come to a loved one (or to the one he is protecting, be it a child or an adult) and immediately change his mood for the better.

He acts this way not because of programming, not because of Afton, and not because of instincts.
He chooses for himself who and when to be.

Some people may still see and expect to see him as evil and a murderer, more than he actually is. Some will say: that monster again...
And someone will calmly approach them, look them in the eyes, and maybe say something nice, even give them a hug. Unfortunately, people have different opinions on this...
