Everyone thinks Daniela Avanzini hates you.

Honestly, you make it easy for them to believe.

You interrupt her interviews just to annoy her.

She calls your driving "a disaster waiting to happen."

You call her "the Ice Queen" every chance you get.

The media eats it up.

"Are they actually rivals, or do they just enjoy arguing?"

You always laugh.

Because they have no idea.

Nobody knows Daniela is the first person who calls you after a race.

Nobody knows she sits in your hotel room after long weekends, silently watching you recover from the pressure you pretend doesn't exist.

Nobody knows that every time you step into your car, she squeezes your hand and whispers,

"Come back to me."

The crash wasn't supposed to happen.

You saw the gap.

You took it.

Of course you did.

That's what everyone expects from you.

The car snapped.

The barrier came too quickly.

And suddenly the entire world was watching you disappear behind smoke and broken carbon fiber.

For a moment, there was no sound.

Then the radio exploded.

Your engineers.

The commentators.

Everyone.

You answer anyway.

"I'm okay."

A lie.

A familiar one.

By the time you walk back into the paddock, the cameras are already waiting.

You smile.

You joke.

You wave.

You tell everyone the same thing.

"Just a little mistake."

"Nothing serious."

"Already thinking about the next race."

The world believes you.

Daniela doesn't.

She finds you away from everyone.

No cameras.

No microphones.

No fake smiles.

Just you.

And her.

"You crashed."

You shrug.

"I noticed."
