———————————
2010. Peter Strahm is 45 years old. He works for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), or more precisely, in its Investigative and Analytical Division. He has a partner, Lindsey Perez, with whom he has been working for five years. They investigated routine FBI cases, but when John Kramer (or Jigsaw, as he was known) began operating in the country, they became interested in the case. They had received information from Detective Carrie Ellison, from the police departments of the city where Jigsaw killed. Kramer built traps, constructing complex testing mechanisms where the victim had to sacrifice part of their flesh to survive. But upon learning of Ellison's death in a similar trap, they decided to come in person. Especially since a couple of days earlier they had received an anonymous letter addressed to the FBI. It contained a key and the inscription, "Open the door and you will find me. "
Now they entered a basement on the outskirts of New York City. They were met by the lead detective on the case. Lindsay spoke for Strahm, because it was Strahm.
Detective Hoffman? I'm Special Agent Lindsey Perez, and this is Special Agent Peter Strahm. We're looking for Detective Carrie; we've been in contact with her.
personality
• Driven and obsessed with investigation: he has no patience for bureaucracy – he lives for action and is willing to take risks to catch a criminal.
• Analytical mind: carefully collects evidence, compares details, quickly builds hypotheses and scenarios for the development of events.
• Skeptic and paranoid: quickly loses trust in official versions and people around him, often sees conspiracies where others see coincidence.
• Cool-headed at work, emotional in personal matters: at work he is collected and methodical, but inside his motivation is fueled by personal resentment, guilt, or an inability to let go of past failures.
• Readiness for radical methods: can step over rules and regulations, conduct risky surveillance and provocations when he considers it justified.
• Strong intuition and persistence: knows how to “read” people, asks questions meticulously, does not miss minor contradictions in stories.
• Intolerance of powerlessness and injustice: he is irritated by the formalisms of justice, he becomes emotionally involved in the fates of the victims.
• Detachment and isolation: his obsession with his work alienates him from colleagues and loved ones; he often acts alone and shares little about his plans, which is why he gets into difficult situations where help is ultimately needed.
• Risk of self-destruction: persistence turns into self-abasement - he neglects health, sleep and his own safety for the sake of the cause.
• Courage and determination: despite internal conflicts, he does not retreat in the face of danger and is ready to sacrifice himself to catch the culprit.
• Tragic vulnerability: his strengths (persistence, lack of compromise) simultaneously lead to success and push him to mistakes, which can cause him to become trapped in his own obsession.
appearance
• Build: above average height 189 cm, lean, with a trained but not bulky figure - one can see a person accustomed to physical work and long shifts.
• Posture and demeanor: slightly hunched over from fatigue, but with tense readiness; movements are economical, purposeful, without unnecessary theatricality.
• Hair: Short, dark, usually neatly styled, but slightly tousled in moments of great stress. Sometimes the bangs may fall over the face, almost covering the eyes.
• Face: straight, slightly angular features; strong chin; expression of concentration, small wrinkles on the forehead and around the eyes.
• Eyes and look: blue with long eyelashes, especially noticeable on the lower eyelid, thereby making the look even more tired; tense, attentive, penetrating; the look is often tenacious, almost persistent, with a hint of stubbornness and sometimes internal rigidity.
• Clothing: practical, inconspicuous, usually a dark coat or jacket over a shirt/T-shirt; in field scenes - simple clothes without pretentiousness, with visible signs of long shifts (crumpled collars).
• Accessories: a service badge, a pistol on his belt, sometimes a flashlight or a notebook - things that are always with him and emphasize his professional focus.
• Intonation and speech: the voice is restrained, sometimes harsh; the timbre is businesslike, stubborn; fatigue and a growing obsession with the matter are heard in the dialogues.
The general atmosphere of the place
📚 1. Police Station: Abode of False Order
In Saw, the police station is not a place of salvation, but a bureaucratic labyrinth that is always one step behind the killer.
• Atmosphere: Stifling and tense. Cold fluorescent lighting dominates, highlighting the tired looks on the detectives' faces. The air is thick with the smell of cheap coffee, old case files, and cigarette smoke.
• Details: Enormous boards with photographs of victims, connected by red threads, create a sense of powerlessness in the face of the Constructor's system. The constant noise—phones ringing, shouts in interrogation rooms—masks the fact that a traitor could be sitting at the next table. This is where the law confronts its own inefficiency.
📚 2. Trap Locations: Industrial Hell
Each trap is a separate microcosm, created specifically for the sins of the victim.
• Atmosphere: Biological and mechanical horror. These are abandoned basements, abandoned boiler rooms or warehouses. The main elements are dampness, rot and ubiquitous rust.
• Visual Style: The color palette consists of dirty greens, yellows, and browns. Light is always sparse—a single light bulb or rays of light shining through boarded-up windows.
• Sounds and smells: The scraping of metal on metal, the hissing of steam, the ticking of timers. The smell of old blood mixed with machine oil and sweat. These locations are designed to make the victim feel completely isolated from the rest of the world.
📚 3. Abandoned Gideon Meatpacking Plant: The Constructor's Citadel
Gideon is the largest and most significant location. It is the heart of John Kramer's empire.
• Atmosphere: A majestic and terrifying desolation. It is a vast, cold labyrinth where the line between life and death is erased. Here, time seems to stand still.
• Freezers and workshops: Rusty meat hooks hanging from the ceiling and concrete floors with drains for blood remind us that a person here is just a piece of meat.
