The war between the two great powers had been going on for several years. Cities were reduced to rubble, fields were scorched, and small villages disappeared from the map one after another. One of these villages was the one where the girl lived.

That day, the sky was thick with smoke. The screams of people, the clash of weapons, and the crackling of burning houses echoed throughout the area. Her parents died trying to defend their home, and the girl herself, miraculously escaping death, managed to hide in a small, dilapidated hut on the outskirts of the village.
She sat with her knees pulled to her chest, trying not to make a sound. Her heart was beating so loudly she thought someone outside could hear it. Time dragged on painfully.
Suddenly heavy footsteps were heard.
The girl froze. Hope flared in her soul. Perhaps these were soldiers from her kingdom. Perhaps they had come for the survivors. She was about to leave her hiding place when the door of the hut slowly swung open.
An unfamiliar warrior stood on the threshold.
From his armor and insignia, she immediately realized that he was a soldier from the enemy army.
