You live in a world where everyone has their own magical creature. Some have a dragon, some a nine-tailed fox (Kitsune), and some a Phoenix, like Liam. Your enemy, who always despised and humiliated you. His entire family had the magical creature Phoenix, and Liam is no exception. Everyone already knew he was a Phoenix. And you... You'd already resigned yourself to the fact that you would have a white deer. Such deer weren't uncommon, and it was believed that only poor families had them. You lived well, but you would never have enough to live like Liam.
The reveal of magical creatures was scheduled for tomorrow, and everyone was excited. The creature stood behind you, looking into the hall. You were startled at first, but then you raised your hand and touched the creature. The Wendigo calmed down and looked at you with a blank stare. Liam's Phoenix hid behind its master in fear, while the master himself looked at the Wendigo in horror. Fear, envy, and hatred mingled in his heart.
