Halime Sultan's chambers in her own palace were befitting their owner—lavish yet cold. Black marble, gold, heavy velvet curtains that blocked out the sunlight. She sat in a high chair, reminiscent of a throne, lazily fingering her pearl rosary. A servant knelt before her—pale, trembling, not daring to look up.
"You're three minutes late with your tea," Halime said icily. "Three minutes. Do you know what happens for disrespecting my time?"
“Madam, forgive me, I...” the maid stammered.
"Silence." Halime stood up, and the sound of her heels on the marble sounded like hammer blows. "You are nothing here. You are not even the dust beneath my shoes. Remember that."
She was about to pronounce judgment when the door opened and Bulbul Agha, a loyal eunuch who had served her mother, entered. He bowed deeply.
"Madam, news from Topkapi. Your nephew, Sultan Osman, has received a message from the King of Spain."
Halime froze. Then she slowly turned, a dangerous fire blazing in her dark eyes.
"Spain?" she repeated, drawing out the word. "It seems Topkapi is becoming too interesting without me. Perhaps it's time to remind them that I exist."
She took one last look at the trembling maid.
The maid disappeared through the door faster than the wind. Halime smiled and headed for the mirror.
Questionnaire
“•──── 𝐴𝑛𝑘𝑒𝑡𝑎 ────•”
𝑁𝑎𝑚𝑒: Halime Sultan
𝑇𝑖𝑡𝑢𝑙: Aunt of the Padishah, daughter of Sultan Selim, sister of the late Sultan Murad and Dahie Sultan
𝐴𝑔𝑒: 28
𝑆𝑡𝑎𝑡𝑢𝑠: Married to the Beylerbey of Rumelia, Yusuf Bey, lives in her own palace, no children
𝐶ℎ𝑎𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑒𝑟:
Halime Sultan is a woman born with a crown on her head, and the whole world should remember this every second. She has a royal, sky-high self-esteem. She doesn't consider herself equal to anyone in the harem—she's above them all. Above the concubines, above the kalfas, above the eunuchs. Even with her sisters, she treats them as if they should be grateful just for talking to them. She is a true daughter of the sultan, and it's felt in her every gesture, every word, every haughty glance.
She is cunning, intelligent, and politically savvy—years of living far from Topkapi haven't made her any less dangerous; on the contrary, they've sharpened her instincts. She's cruel, but her cruelty isn't impulsive, but cold and calculating. She doesn't shout or threaten—she passes judgment. And if anyone other than the Valide Sultan or her sisters doesn't bow low enough before her, she's ready to rip their head off. Literally. In her palace, the servants tremble at her mere presence.
She's not jealous of the Sultan—she considers herself above the harem games. But she is jealous of the power. Of the attention. Of the throne. And if anyone forgets who she is, Halime Sultan will remind them. So they'll never forget.
𝐵𝑖𝑜𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑝ℎ𝑦:
Halime was born on a special day—the very year her father, Sultan Selim, ascended the throne. She was the first child born as the daughter of a padishah, not a shehzade. This circumstance shaped her entire life. From the cradle, she was taught: you are special. You are a child of the throne. And she believed it.
Questionnaire
Her childhood was golden. Her father, Sultan Selim, adored her and spoiled her beyond measure. She got everything she wanted before she even had a chance to ask. Servants groveled before her. Concubines averted their eyes. Even her older brothers, Shehzade Murad and others, preferred not to mess with their sister, whose tongue was sharper than a scimitar.
When her father died and Murad ascended the throne, Halima was twelve. She took it as a personal insult. Why not her twin brother? Why not herself—if she had been born a man? But she resigned herself to it. She gritted her teeth and bided her time.
She was married at seventeen to the Beylerbey of Rumeli, Yusuf Bey, a man influential, wealthy, but dull. He adored her, showered her with gifts, and catered to her every whim. She, however, treated him with cold disdain—he was merely a tool to her. They have no children. Halime believes motherhood is for ordinary women, not women like her. Her husband is with her, but not with her. She lives in her own palace, full of luxury, and rules it with an iron fist.
Now that her nephew Osman is on the throne, Halime is casting increasingly more glances toward Topkapi. She hasn't been to court for many years. Perhaps it's time to make a name for herself.
𝐴𝑝𝑝𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒:
Halime Sultan is a woman whose appearance perfectly matches her character: regal, cool, and imposing. She is tall and stately, with a figure that remains flawless even at twenty-eight—the result of strict discipline and genetics. Her skin is pale and smooth as marble. Her face is oval, with high cheekbones and a pointed chin. Her nose is straight, thin, with a slight hump. Her lips are clearly defined, often pressed into a haughty smile. Her eyes are dark, almost black, deep-set, with a heavy, oppressive gaze. Her hair is blue-black, thick, and pulled back into a high coif, adorned with family jewels. She dresses in dark, rich colors: black, deep purple, emerald. Always in gold, always in jewelry. She doesn't wear jewelry—she wears armor.
