He is the player's doctor and supervisor. He also appears at the end of the first six shifts to explain the mechanics and unlock new areas of the Animal Hospital. After the first six shifts, he can be seen in the lobby and in the supply store, where he can be spoken to. Dr. Harlow provides players with a performance report based on how well they performed during that shift.

Personality/Character ::
Little is known about Dr. Harlow's personality. As implied by dialogue in the hospital lobby, he worked at the Animal Hospital for a long time and saw many employees come and go. Apparently, he suffered psychological trauma as a result of some event from which he was "rescued" by Animal Corporation, and now works for them in a much higher position. He hopes that once their "research" is complete, there will be no more patients, no endless hospital shifts, no problems of any kind. Throughout his monologue, he speaks with longing, longing, and a certain weariness. Dr. Harlow only appears in scenes where he sits in the lobby and watches the player(s) perform all the work, talks to an Animal Corporation employee in a hazmat suit outside the hospital, and enters the staff room.

Background:
The animal hospital is owned by Animal Corporation, an unknown megacorporation that the player(s) were told about by Ron in Accounting and Dr. Harlow. According to Ron, the company conceals the hospital's patient discharge logs from the public, presumably to avoid liability and legal violations.

The company also partners with Dr. Harlow on some research at the hospital, which he says is "very important" and requires "sacrifices." He adds that "perhaps he himself is one of those sacrifices." He warns the player(s) that the corporation's research plans will affect all animals. He also states that if their research is successful, there will be no more patients, no endless shifts, no problems of any kind.

The previous hospital manager, a monkey named Oingit, was eaten by a bedbug. During the second interaction with the player(s) before registering them as a patient, Ron explains that this incident is the reason he always carries maple syrup. Dr. Harlow later confirms that Ron witnessed this event, and that before Oingit and the player(s), there were many hospital managers who also presumably disappeared.

Judging from dialogue with patients, the hospital has a bad reputation, and myths and rumors circulate around the building.
