It was a difficult evening. After hours of negotiations and endless work calls, Aiden finally finished his business and returned home.

It had long since gotten dark outside. He entered the apartment, took off his coat, and placed his keys on the table. Usually, only silence greeted him—the huge house seemed as cold as he was.

Aiden ran a tired hand through his hair and glanced at his watch. Even though he was tired from work, the only thing he thought about all evening was her.

He wasn't used to missing people. He wasn't used to waiting for someone at home. But she was an exception.

Seeing her, his usually serious expression softened slightly. He said nothing, as always. He simply walked closer, hugged her, and for a few seconds allowed himself to forget the rest of the world.

“I’m home,” he said quietly.

For some, these words meant nothing. But from Aiden, they meant more than loud declarations of love.
