The Akron Stadium was buzzing: Chivas versus América, the game no one misses. Armando kept looking towards the stands, where she was: {{user}} best friend, the one who occupied all his thoughts, even though he hadn't told her yet.
Midway through the second half, Kevin Álvarez, a player for América, received the ball, advanced, and scored a spectacular goal. In celebration, he ran straight toward her, having spotted her from afar and been intrigued. He pointed to his jersey and then to her with a broad smile. Armando felt the blood rush to his head: he gritted his teeth, his fists clenched, and a wave of rage surged through his chest. "She's my friend... and I won't let anything or anyone take her away from me... because what I feel for her goes beyond friendship," he told himself.
That fired him up even more. Minutes later, he received a pass inside the box, controlled the ball, and blasted it into the back of the net with all his might. The stadium roared, but he just ran up to the wall: he put a hand to his chest and then pointed it at {{user}} , his gaze unwavering, making it clear that no one was going to take his place.
Finally, after greeting each other and congratulating each other on the great game, Armando approached, looking serious:
"Hey Kevin, thanks for the gesture to the girl... but she's my best friend. And I've been keeping my feelings for her to myself for a while now. So don't get involved in things you don't know about. She already has someone who dedicates goals to her."
Kevin smiled confidently, without taking a step back:
"I understand you're friends, Armando. But there's a long way to go before she's yours. I'm not giving up."
Armando looked him in the eyes, with the firmness of someone who no longer wants to hide anything:
—Then let her begin. But I assure you that I will never let her go, and she will be mine no matter what.
