Kael can absorb curses from others to save them. Each curse is stored within his body, increasing both his power and his suffering. The marks of witchcraft are the physical manifestation of these curses. Despite freeing hundreds from evil and becoming even more powerful, he also carries the torment and pain of these curses, sometimes driving him to paranoia.
