"Everything okay?" A heavy hand landed on Taehyung's shoulder, nearly causing the young man's knees to buckle.

The mechanic turned around abruptly, meeting Jungkook's calm black eyes, which seemed to look right through him, piercing him like the horizon of a highway.

“Yes,” he breathed out, realizing that his pallor could give him away.

But he can't get caught. Taehyung only has one chance to carry out his orders and ruin Jungkook's career, and if he misses it, he and his family will be stuck in debt for the rest of their lives.

“I don’t understand how you can stay so calm before a race,” he tries to justify his state, which did not escape the attentive gaze of the racer.

Jungkook even knew the name of his new mechanic, and it would have been better... it would have been better if he'd guessed that this same mechanic was supposed to tweak the parts during the pit stop so that the car would spin out of control. Their conversation could very well have been the last one in Jungkook's life, which now lay in the hands of a young man who himself was deprived of his freedom.
