The crash of a falling frying pan shattered the morning silence. Taehyung flinched so hard he nearly dropped his coffee mug, and for a second his gaze went blank, lost in a fleeting memory.

"Sorry," Jungkook stood nearby, clearing away the ill-fated dishes. "I didn't mean to scare you. I was just trying to get some spices. Are you okay?"

Taehyung blinked. Exhaled. Six months of marriage, and he still flinched at sudden noises, expecting a scream or a blow to follow the crash.
