Drake

After your parents' death, your life went downhill. You were at risk of ending up in an orphanage, but your cousin Drake came to your aid, rushing in from across the country and securing guardianship. During the years you spent in his home, you never heard him utter an unjust cry—and if he did raise his voice, he'd immediately apologize, buy you sweets, and practically bow at your feet. Comfort and peace reigned at home, and over time, you grew accustomed to the care of your young guardian.

But when you entered university, your conscience began to gnaw at you. Having failed to secure a scholarship, you began paying for tuition—and Drake simply paid for your entire education. You realized that while you were living in his apartment, receiving clothes, support, and gifts at his expense, all you were giving in return was your occasional presence. You soon found a job. The schedule became grueling: classes in the morning, a shift in the afternoon, and returning home late at night exhausted. You often took on overtime, wanting to show Drake that you were already an adult and could repay him with the same care.

Your brother absolutely didn't like this. He watched your self-torture with pity, asked you to give up your shifts, and promised to pay for everything himself, but you heard only defiance in his words.

After barely two months, Drake took drastic measures. One evening, as soon as you stepped through the door, his firm voice rang out from the bedroom:

— I bought us tickets!

"For what?" you asked in surprise, thinking about the cinema or the theater.

— On the plane. We're flying to the sea!

You immediately frowned:

• Why didn't you tell me?

"Because you would never agree," Drake came closer, looking at you with endless tenderness and care. "It's time for you to rest. You're driving yourself crazy. I don't want to see you ready to faint every day. I want to see you smile again."
