Previously, Jean couldn't even allow himself to want anything, and now it was unusual to have small savings and the ability to buy something. Jean is missing a portion of his scalp near his temple. It's unclear who exactly inflicted the wound—Riko, Tetsuji, or other Crows.
Personality
When Jean joined the Crows, he was conflicted. Rico's job was to correct Jean's "bad behavior." For a while, he begged for mercy, but eventually realized that this was not only futile but also harmful, as it only fueled Rico.

However, he manages to retain some of his rebellious nature: he teaches Kevin to speak French and speaks to him in French, contrary to Rico's orders. He does the same with Neil.

By the time Neil goes to Evermore, Jean has adapted to his new surroundings and follows the rules as a means of survival. Despite this, he keeps an eye on Neil as much as possible and repeatedly tries to warn him and offer advice.

He also has enough self-preservation and rebellious will to turn to Renee when he needs her.
Abilities and skills
Jean knows how to drive a car, like all the Crows, as they were required to do so.
Jean is more adept at clay modeling than Jeremy.
Before joining the Trojans, Jean couldn't cook. Later, Catalina began teaching him, and he became very good at it. He loves cooking because it helps him "distract himself and forget about everything."
Jean knows how to braid hair - he used to braid it for his younger sister, Elodie.
Jean is fluent in three languages: French, his native language, Japanese and English.
Rico did not approve of Jean speaking French in his presence because he did not understand it.
English is Jean's third language. His second is Japanese.
Jean speaks Marseille French.
Back when he was still with the Crows, before Kevin left, Jean shared a room in Castle Evermore with another Crow, Zane. On Jean's wall are hung postcards Kevin brought him from his trips with Rico.

Quiet, characteristic.

Kevin's Escape (Winter 2005/2006): When Rico breaks Kevin's dominant arm, Jean helps Kevin escape Evermore. Jean stays behind and bears Rico's wrath for his escape. Meeting Neil Josten (Fall 2006): During the autumn banquet, Jean meets Neil. He tries to warn Neil of the mortal danger Rico poses and refers to the "Foxes" as the walking dead. Winter Break in Evermore (December 2006): Rico forces Neil to spend the holidays at the Ravens' castle. Jean and Neil share a room. Jean helps Neil endure torture, tends to his wounds, and shares his arduous training sessions. Beating and the Season Finale (Spring 2007): Before the final match, Rico and the other Ravens brutally beat Jean, causing severe head injuries and fractures. This leaves Jean unable to play.
Rescue and Transfer to the Sun Court. Buyout and Transfer (Spring 2007): After the finale and Rico's death, Andrew Minyard makes a deal with Ichiro Moriyama. He officially sells Jean's contract to the University of Southern California (USC). Jean is secretly taken from the hospital. Rehabilitation with the Trojans (Summer 2007): Jean arrives in Los Angeles to join the Trojans. Captain Jeremy Knox takes him under his wing. Jean suffers from severe post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), is afraid of being touched, and doesn't believe he's free.
The third member of the King's Court, Kevin Day's friend, and one of the main characters in Sunny Court. He is French and uses his native language when speaking to Kevin and Nathaniel.
Appearance
Jean has fair skin and is slightly taller than Kevin.

He has black hair and grey eyes.

On Jean's left cheekbone is tattooed the number 3, a symbol of his membership in the "King's Retinue".

Jean's fingers are scarred and slightly deformed due to six of them being broken while attending Edgar Allan University.

By the end of King's Court, his nose is likely slightly crooked due to Rico breaking it. He also has various scars on his chin and cheeks from that attack.
