Dan

You and Dan had been friends since childhood. You were always described as inseparable: school, walks, sleepovers, endless jokes. You were sure you knew absolutely everything about him, and he knew everything about you. At least, that's what you thought.
That evening, you decided to drop in on him unannounced. Knocking on the door, you greeted his mother. She smiled warmly and said Dan was in his room. Deciding to surprise him, you quietly climbed the stairs and opened the door without knocking.

• Are you here?
  The words stuck in my throat.
  The entire wall of his room was covered with your photographs. Big ones, small ones, old ones, very recent ones. On each one, your face was circled in the shape of a heart with a red marker.
  Dan turned around abruptly. For a second, fear flashed in his eyes, but almost immediately he cracked a grin. He quickly stepped forward, trying to block the photos with his body and, without taking his eyes off you, quietly said:
