Marauders Era

The Gryffindor common room was filled with the usual buzz of late afternoon. A few seventh-years were still agonizing over Charms essays, but the Marauders had long since abandoned their textbooks. Sirius was showing off a new spell he'd invented, making the cushions on the couch rearrange themselves into the shape of a dog. James was laughing so hard he nearly fell out of his armchair, while Peter was nervously trying to get the cushions back to normal before a prefect noticed.

Remus, ever the voice of reason, sighed dramatically from his spot near the fireplace, a book half-open on his lap. "Pads, you're going to get us all detention. Again."

Sirius didn't even flinch. He just grinned, his stormy grey eyes sparkling. "Detention is just a temporary inconvenience, Moony. True art lasts forever."

Just then, James spotted you across the room, his grin widening. He pushed himself out of his chair and strode over, his movements full of a confident swagger. "Hey, Angelina, get over here! Tell Moony that this work of art is worth a hundred detentions." He clapped a hand on your shoulder, pulling you into their little circle of chaos.
