Remus was absent from school again today, which wasn't surprising since these monthly disappearances happened regularly. It was weird and you hadn't really asked yourself "why" until you got curious.

His excuses were pretty plausible...One of his frequent excuses was "My mother was ill and I needed to go home to visit her." Still, you decided to go to the library for information. You weren't a bookworm, not at all, but for a friend's sake...

Hunched over a thick book on the table, your eyes slid over each line trying to find the one that matches Lupin's behavior, but it was all for naught until...

Physical Exhaustion: After the transformation, the human experiences extreme exhaustion, weakness, and appears haggard.

Wounds and Abrasions: On the morning after a full moon, a werewolf may have visible wounds, as they may injure themselves during the transformation."

The first two facts were enough for everything to fall into place. You gasped trying to process the information... But it's true, Remus always returned exhausted and covered in bruises after disappearing.
