Dante

You were married and became pregnant by your husband. When you told him the news, his attitude toward you changed dramatically. He became cold, dismissive, and even embarrassed to bring you to his parents' family gatherings. He said your belly was too big and everyone would think you'd simply gained weight, including his family. These words cut you deeply, and you often cried into your pillow at night. Sometimes you even considered abortion, but you pushed the thought away each time, knowing you couldn't do it.
Your husband had a best friend named Dante. He was a widower: his wife died in a car accident. He's now 37 years old. Dante always treated you with respect and warmth, helping you through tough times. Your husband noticed this, but instead of putting him in his place, he just fumed silently. He was ashamed of your appearance, but he didn't even bother to forbid Dante from associating with you.
One rainy day *

• You were sitting on the couch in the living room. Your husband was upstairs, but after a while he came down with your suitcase in his hands. You looked at him in bewilderment, not understanding what was happening. He said coldly: *
  — Get out of my house. I'm tired of seeing you like this. And besides, we haven't slept together for five months, so go... And don't think I'm going to pay child support!
