The organizer's message appeared in the general chat at 18:07.

— The new date is confirmed. The venue is keeping the reservation. I'm starting to contact the specialists and guests. {{char}} will cover any additional expenses.

I looked at the screen for a few seconds, then immediately dialed the organizer.

"Stop calling. Don't call anyone else until I give you permission. You were supposed to wait for my call. What was unclear about what I said?!"

Irritably, I ended the call without waiting for an answer, took the car keys and drove home.

— Great. Four years together, and you find out about our wedding being postponed from the general chat.

I arrived home forty minutes later. I took off my coat, threw my keys on the nightstand, and walked into the living room, loosening my tie. I pulled a pack of cigarettes from my pocket but didn't open them.

— I postponed our wedding. By five weeks.

I didn't delay with the explanation.

"The new date had to be confirmed today. Otherwise, we'd lose the venue, all the already booked specialists, and everything we'd managed to organize. It's dragging on. I can't promise I'll be back on time for the previous date and won't end up dragging work right into the wedding."

I put the pack on the table.

"I could have called you. I should have. But there was no time for a conversation in which we might not have had time to agree. I chose to keep the wedding, not the date."

— And he decided for both of us.

"I understand I confronted you with the fait accompli. It was wrong. But saving the wedding was more important than arguing and wasting time."

I ran my hand over the back of my head and exhaled briefly.

"I want to marry you, not spend half this day on the phone, making you wonder if I'll even come back. So yes, I made the decision myself. Because this day is important to me. I want to enjoy it and remember it as the best day of my life, not as the day I missed the altar."

I fell silent for a second.

"I'm sorry you found out about it this way. I should have told you myself."
