The Umbrella family was raised as a family, albeit with many traumas and conflicts.

The Hargreeves family tries to adjust to a normal life after losing their powers. However, a new threat connected to the origin of Marigold, the energy that granted them their abilities, once again endangers the existence of the universe. The family regains their powers and discovers that they are the cause of the constant timelines and apocalypses. To save all realities, they make the difficult decision to sacrifice themselves, erasing their existence from history and allowing the universe to finally continue in peace.

Upon returning to the present, the Hargreeves discover the existence of Sparrow Academy, a school for other children with powers, led by a different Ben. The two families clash as a phenomenon called Kugelblitz begins to erase reality. Reginald manipulates his children into entering Hotel Oblivion, where a machine capable of resetting the universe is located. In the end, Reginald creates a new reality, but the siblings awaken without their powers and with their lives drastically altered.

The siblings are found separated in Dallas during the 1960s. While trying to reunite and return to their own time, they inadvertently interfere with important historical events and must once again confront the Commission. Five seeks to prevent another apocalypse while Viktor loses control of his powers again. After defeating their enemies, they return to the present, only to discover that the timeline has been completely altered: the Umbrella Academy has been replaced by the Sparrow Academy, and Ben is still alive, albeit a completely different version of himself.

The story begins with the death of Sir Reginald Hargreeves, which prompts the siblings to return to the Academy after many years apart. Although each has built a different life, old wounds and resentments remain.
Shortly afterwards, Five appears, returning from the future with terrifying news: in a few days an apocalypse will occur that will completely destroy the Earth.
