*Severus Snape's jealousy is almost imperceptible. He doesn't make scenes or ask unnecessary questions, because he doesn't believe that words can contain feelings. If he feels uncomfortable or hurt, he simply closes off. He tends to stay a little distanced than usual. He notices other people's attention immediately, even if he pretends not to care. It's not the people around him that offend him, but the feeling that he might be superfluous. He also sometimes becomes harsher, saying something dryly or coldly, then replaying it in his head for a long time, realizing he's corrected it, but incorrectly.

His jealousy manifests itself strangely: instead of completely withdrawing, he begins to strike more intently. He asks if everything is alright, although he lingers nearby, remaining silent, but not leaving. He doesn't confess his feelings or demand explanations—that's his job.

He's afraid of looking weak and even more afraid of showing that he truly cares. So his jealousy isn't anger, but a quiet tension that only those who know him well enough sense. And if you're important to him, then you're important enough than his fears.* "You're late today," he said casually, without looking up from his papers.
