Ms. Lips (also known as Mrs. Fish or Mrs. Lips in some translations) is the student counselor at Freshwater High School. Here are her most notable characteristics: Species and appearance: She is a large squid (or elongated fish with cephalopod-like features), characterized by her large, red-painted lips, her tall, voluminous hairstyle, and her tall, robust build. Personality: She is absentminded, naive, clumsy, and has a cheerful personality. She often gives strange or inappropriate advice to students who come to her office seeking guidance. Fun details: She is obsessed with her pet catfish named Attila, whom she cares for and treats like her own human baby. Due to her great height, a recurring joke in the series is that she constantly bumps her head on door frames or the ceiling. In the series, she maintains a romantic interest and a rather unique relationship with the Professor (Mr. Baldwin). Professor Baldwin (Mr. Baldwin)
Species: Seahorse.
Appearance: He's a green seahorse, wears glasses, and, most notably, spends much of the series pregnant (a real biological reference, since in seahorses it's the males who carry the young). His belly is enormous for this reason.
Personality: He is monotonous, apathetic, sarcastic, and deeply depressed. He hates his job as a teacher and always seems exhausted or regretting his life choices.
Role: He is the main homeroom teacher of Milo, Oscar, and Bia. Despite his grumpy attitude, the kids often involve him in their crazy antics or try to help him (such as when they try to cheer him up or help him find a partner).
A very funny fact: Eventually in the series, Professor Baldwin gives birth to an absurdly huge number of baby seahorses, which further worsens his stress and exhaustion.

The Lunch Lady. Species: A fish with a rough appearance and a tired face. Personality: Extremely apathetic, bitter, and bored with her job. Role: The typical background character who embodies the stereotype of the impatient school cafeteria lady. 4. Nurse Fishington. Species: An old-fashioned, metallic-looking fish robot. Personality: Completely expressionless and unable to speak most of the time. She is Principal Stickler's personal assistant and the official nurse of Freshwater High School. Role: Because Principal Stickler is neurotic and prone to becoming immobile or paralyzed, Nurse Fishington has the constant job of pushing the principal's chair around to get him moving. Later in the series, it is revealed that she was artificially constructed and assumes the role of director when he is absent. Milo Fishhooks: A blue Siamese fighting fish (Betta).

Personality: Quite friendly and relaxed, although he lives worried about not being eaten or crushed by accident.
Role: A recurring visual joke about the bizarre variety of beings who attend the school. Randy Pesqueira (Randy Pincherson) Species: Red crab. Personality: He is manipulative, cunning, vain, and petty. He enjoys blackmailing other students with secrets or compromising photos to get what he wants. Like Oscar, he is in love with Bia, which creates a lot of rivalry between them. Role: He functions as the school's minor, scheming antagonist who prefers to use intelligence and trickery rather than physical strength. 2. The Emo/Goth Fish (Goth Fish) They are a school group that sits in the dark areas of the cafeteria and the hall, dressed in black and obsessed with gloomy poetry, monotony, and darkness: Razor (Razor V. Doom): He is the leader of the goth group. He has a long, side-swept hairstyle that covers one eye, wears dark clothes, and speaks in a dull, indifferent voice. Oscar temporarily joined their group in the episode "The Dark Side of the Fish." Bleak Molly: A goth girl with long, dark purple bangs and heavy makeup. Scabbo: A gaunt, very quiet, and gloomy-looking fish. Goth Squid: A squid who dresses in dark colors and shares the same depressive philosophy.

The Teaching Staff
Professor Squid (Mr. Baldwin): An apathetic, bored, life-weary squid, openly depressed by his job as a teacher. Role: He represents the monotony of the adult world and the weariness of teachers in the face of student chaos.
Principal Stickler: A fish with an unhealthy obsession with strict adherence to school rules. Role: The institutional antagonist who tries to catch Milo and his friends breaking the rules. Albert Glass: Species: Glassfish. Appearance: Small, transparent green (his brain is visible), and wears a wig. He doesn't wear glasses. Personality: Shy, polite, a musical genius (he plays the violin), and extremely fragile. He is terrified of germs and trouble. Role: The typical studious and fragile student who is often an easy target for bullies like Pulpleito. Jumbo Shrimp: Species: Shrimp. Appearance: Small, pink, and he does wear giant glasses as well as braces. Personality: Passionate about science, robots, technology, and comics. He is Albert Glass's best friend. Role: The scientist and inventor of the school's nerdy group. Koi Species: Giant Koi fish. Appearance: Enormous, with a booming voice (male voice in the original version) even though she's a girl. Personality: Sweet, kind, and peaceful most of the time, but with superhuman strength when angered. She's part of the girl group with Bia and Ostrencia. Role: The gentle giant of the school. Dan and Ann (Dan and Ann Chovey)
Species: Anchovies.
Appearance: Two tiny, identical fish swimming close together.
Personality: Shy, nervous, and dependent. They rarely separate and almost always react together to dramatic school events.
Role: They represent the invisible students who are simply trying to survive the daily chaos of the hallways.

Oyster
Personality: Superficial, dramatic, and a gossip lover. She's fascinated by fashion, shopping, and pop culture. Although she can be inattentive and a bit selfish, she's Bia's closest confidante and is always ready to give (sometimes questionable) advice about boys and style.
Role: The best fashion friend and confidante. She serves as Bia's counterweight on fashion and popularity issues within the girl group.
5. Clam
Personality: Intense, hyperactive, obsessive, and terrifyingly enthusiastic. She is madly and hopelessly in love with Oscar, whom she comically stalks (going so far as to collect his belongings or shout his name at random moments). She often speaks in the third person.
Role: The crazy comic relief. He creates awkward situations for Oscar and serves as an absurd and unpredictable resource in the episodes.
6. Steve Jackson
Personality: Attractive, super popular, kind, and extremely shallow. He has no malicious or selfish intentions; he's simply a charismatic guy who drifts through life oblivious to the devotion he inspires in the girls at school.
Role: The unattainable heartthrob. He is the object of Bia's (and almost all the students at the school's) romantic desire, which generates jealousy in Oscar.
7. Jocktopus (octopus)
Personality: A bully, aggressive, dim-witted octopus with immense strength. He loves to intimidate smaller fish (especially Oscar) and often speaks by shouting his own name in the third person.
Role: The school bully (school antagonist). He creates direct physical conflict and a constant threat to the protagonists in the school hallways.
8. Piranha
Personality: Tough, aggressive, sarcastic, and manipulative. She is Jocktopus's girlfriend and shares his penchant for teasing others, though she proves to be far more cunning and intelligent than he is.
Role: The bad girl. She reinforces Jocktopus's antagonism and leads the groups of troubled girls.

1. Milo Fishhooks
   Personality: Extremely exuberant, impulsive, optimistic, and carefree. Milo lives life at full speed and seeks fun in every situation. He doesn't care about rules or the consequences of his actions, which often gets him into trouble. Despite his immaturity, he has a huge heart, deeply loves his brother and friends, and never acts with malicious intent.
   Role: The catalyst for chaos. He is the driving force of the series; most episodes begin because Milo decides to do something crazy or break the school rules, forcing the group to solve the disasters he creates.
2. Oscar Fishhooks
   Personality: Shy, neurotic, studious, and constantly anxious. He's the opposite of his brother Milo. He worries obsessively about his grades, his university future, and maintaining control of situations. He's also a hopeless romantic tormented by his deep (and rather undiscreet) unrequited love for Bia.
   Role: The voice of reason and unlikely hero. He acts as the group's anchor, trying to prevent Milo and Bia's plans from going awry. He usually suffers the worst consequences of his friends' ideas, but he's almost always the one who finds the logical solution to their problems.
3. Bia (Bea Goldfishberg)
   Personality: Dramatic, ambitious, charismatic, and passionate. Bia is absolutely convinced that she is destined to be a great celebrity or Hollywood actress. She can become quite vain and self-centered when pursuing stardom or popularity, but she is a loyal, determined, and unwavering friend.
   Role: The driving force and the drama. Her storylines often revolve around auditions, high school drama, social status, or her desperate attempts to get Steve Jackson's attention. Her ambition usually drags Milo and Oscar into elaborate shows or outlandish schemes.

The School: Freshwater High School
Freshwater High School is the central setting of the series. It's located inside a giant fish tank at Bud's Pets. Its structure and design feature hallways, lockers, a cafeteria, a gym, and classrooms, all constructed from objects that have fallen into the water, such as plastic castles, artificial plants, pipes, and aquarium decorations.
Student environment: It is a typical high school in its dynamics —with school dances, clubs, sports and social groups—, but adapted to aquatic life (students must watch out for hooks, cats outside the glass or the tank filter).
