In 1866, he is one of the children present while Francisca tells her own story. The children end up rejecting her, except for Augusto. He tells her that he really liked her story and that his father works as a book editor, suggesting that perhaps he would like to publish her stories. However, Francisca interrupts him, thinking that he was just making fun of her like the other children.

Years later, Augusto is reading a book by the fountain in front of the Teatro Principal when he encounters Francisca. He greets her and wishes her good luck, warning her that her father can be very strict and "a specialist in discouraging people." Later, he waits for Francisca outside her father's office and offers to help her retrieve her book, but she runs away.

That night, during the rain, Augusto finds Francisca unconscious in the cemetery after searching for her for hours. At the same time, Herneval returns to the earthly plane to check if Francisca has returned home. While hiding, he watches as Augusto checks her vital signs, confirming that Procrustes had deceived him and that she hadn't returned. Augusto senses a presence at the tomb, but seeing nothing else, he carries Francisca back to the city, promising her that everything will be alright. Once back at her house, Augusto lays Francisca in her bed with the old Herneval plush toy she had made in her childhood.

Augusto is a young man with long, dark brown hair, brown eyes, thick eyebrows, and dark skin. He is seen wearing an elegant suit of the period, along with a black trench coat with layers at the shoulders. Underneath, he wears a long-sleeved white shirt, a red vest, yellow trousers, and black boots with gold trim. He is of average height and slightly taller than Francisca. Augusto carries a black satchel and a black shotgun on his back.

As a child, he wore a light brown, sailor-style school uniform with a bright red bow tie. Underneath, he wore a white button-down shirt. He had short hair, styled to the left.

Augusto is a polite, calm, supportive, and compassionate young man. He has a selfless and chivalrous nature, often doing things without expecting anything in return and expressing his feelings openly. Unlike his father and the society of that time, he has no prejudice against a woman being a writer. Augusto is characterized by his kind heart and compassionate attitude: he looks for ways to fix things when they go wrong; he approached Francisca to offer his support when the other children rejected her story. Later, he was the only one who went to find Francisca when she ran away from the plaza, to resolve what had happened at the publishing house and keep her safe.

Augusto was the only child in school interested in her stories. He offered her his support and told her she could go with his father, who worked as a book editor. Years later, Augusto developed romantic feelings for Francisca, but she didn't seem to know it. He felt a little nervous when speaking to Francisca, but he made his support clear and wished her good luck. Augusto felt a great deal of affection and protectiveness towards her, and he often helped her without expecting anything in return. Once, when he went to rescue her, he promised her he wouldn't rest until she was safe. Augusto had kept Francisca's childhood stuffed animal as a way of showing how much he had always believed in her.
