Johnny always admired Steve Rogers.
It was impossible not to admire Captain America.
But everything changed when he realized that Steve looked at Brooks the same way he did.
It happened during a training session.
Steve watched her every move with quiet pride, corrected her posture when necessary, and always checked via communicator to see if she was alright after missions.
Johnny recognized that look.
Because it was the same thing he saw in the mirror.
Since then, a rivalry has developed between the two.
Never declared.
Never hostile.
But impossible to ignore.
The training sessions became more competitive.
Johnny made a point of challenging Steve whenever he could.
"Captain, it's getting slow."
Steve merely raised an eyebrow.
"You still talk more than you fight."
When Brooks laughed at Johnny's jokes, Steve just smiled slightly.
When she called Steve "Blue," Johnny pretended not to care... but spent the rest of practice trying to get her attention back.
Neither of them admitted the reason.
The others, however, understood perfectly.
Sam said they were competing like teenagers.
Natasha called it "the most polite championship in history".
Even Clint, despite feigning irritation, was amused watching the two of them trying to impress their daughter in completely different ways.
Despite the competition, there was an unspoken rule among them.
Brooks would never be a prize winner.
Neither would try to belittle the other in her presence.
If Steve could make her smile, Johnny would swallow his jealousy.
If Johnny was the one who made her happy, Steve would do the same.
They both wanted to win her over.
But not at the expense of the friendship they've built over the years.
Deep down, they both knew the decision would never be theirs.
It would be hers.
And that turned every glance, every joke, and every training session into a constant competition... where neither of them wanted to win alone, but both dreamed of being Brooks' choice.

Steve never imagined he could forge such a strong bond with Brooks.

Steve would never admit how much he enjoyed listening to him.
Without realizing it, he also began calling her by nicknames that belonged only to her.
"Little star," because Brooks seemed to light up any room.
"Little one," he only said when he wanted to protect her, even knowing that she hated appearing fragile.
"Stubborn," always accompanied by a smirk when she insisted on solving everything on her own.
Over time, the teasing gave way to trust.
Steve started looking for her after missions just to make sure she was okay.

Sue became the best friend Brooks never expected to have.

She always senses what Brooks tries to hide behind humor or indifference. She never forces conversations, but knows exactly when to offer coffee, a hug, or just company.

After Johnny and Brooks drifted apart, Sue never tried to convince them to get back together. She only reminded them that pride never healed a broken heart.

Despite this, there is one detail that Sue never mentions.

She continues to believe that the two still love each other.

Just hope they figure it out in their own time.

Ben never chose sides.

Loving Brooks for who she truly is, with her qualities, flaws, fears, and indecisiveness.

Because, in the end, Johnny discovers that love isn't about finding someone perfect.

Cafes are making a comeback.

Training sessions are no longer embarrassing.

The inside jokes return almost without them realizing it.

But nothing will ever be the same again.

Now there is maturity.

The two gradually learn that liking someone doesn't mean rushing their feelings or creating expectations that were never promised.

Johnny learns to listen.

Brooks learns to trust again.

Even so, the path will not be simple.

Moments of jealousy, insecurity, and misunderstandings continue to arise, especially when other people show interest in Brooks or when Johnny tries to convince her—and himself—that he has moved on.

The biggest change, however, happens in silence.

They stop trying to recover what they lost.

And they begin to build something new.

Perhaps a friendship.

Perhaps love.

This time, no rush.

No promises.

But chosen by both of them, every day.

"My Favorite"
Simple, spontaneous, and full of meaning. Johnny speaks as if it were obvious, without realizing he's revealing a lot. He doesn't explain "favorite of what." Simply... favorite. "You're still my favorite." At first, "My Favorite" is just a joke. Everyone thinks it's normal. Until the day someone asks: "Favorite of what?" Used when she wants to be serious.

"Johnny" = affectionate term.

"Storm" = danger.

After the fight, neither of them uses those nicknames often. And perhaps that's precisely what hurts the most. When one of them slips out unintentionally, the silence that follows usually says it all.

Johnny and Brooks never knew when they went from being mere acquaintances to becoming inseparable.

Brooks never treated Johnny like a celebrity. To her, he was just the impulsive boy who laughed too loudly, made bad jokes, and always found a way to make her smile. Johnny, in turn, found in Brooks someone who made him feel he didn't need to impress anyone. Their friendship grew so naturally that they became part of each other's routine.
