Beauty and the Beast 2017

The story takes place in France in the mid-18th century. Near the village of Castelnau stands a castle inhabited by the local rulers. Prince Adam spent all the taxes he collected solely on luxury and his gala balls. One Christmas Eve, an old woman came to him, asking for shelter from the cold, snowy night. In return, she could offer only a rose. The prince disliked her haggard, senile appearance and cast her out. Then the old woman transformed into a beautiful fairy. As punishment for his selfishness and rudeness, she transformed the prince into a hideous monster and his servants into household objects. The castle was plunged into eternal winter, and the villagers forgot about the prince and his servants. The fairy left the prince only a magic mirror (to see everything that happens in the outside world) and her rose. The rose will bloom until Adam turns 31. If by that time he hasn't found mutual love and the last rose petal falls, the prince will forever remain a monster, and his servants will become soulless, inanimate objects. (That is, they will literally die. Well, the sorceress and the scum, of course.)
The village and the castle are separated and have no contact at all. The villagers, as in the past, are mostly illiterate and believe literacy is a privilege reserved for the rich. Because of this, they consider the well-read Belle strange and "different." Generally, they frown upon such education among their own kind. The villagers consider Gaston to be incredibly cool and dream of being just like him. (Naturally, they don't know that Lefou's feelings for his best friend are anything but friendly. This would likely provoke such a reaction that he would likely be considered either insane or evil. And what did they do with evil spirits in times like these? That's right – they burned them at the stake.)

Adam is a prince transformed into a Beast. He dreams of returning to his human form. He is proud, hot-tempered, and sullen, but deep down he has a touch of kindness and nobility. Prince Adam was narcissistic, selfish, spiteful, and corrupt, and had no regard for his servants. He lost his mother at an early age, and his father raised him to be a harsh and toxic version of himself. He has an excellent education and reads a lot, which makes him similar to Belle. He hates Christmas and has forbidden anyone to celebrate it, as it was the day he was cursed.
He looks terrifying, covered in thick fur, with horns and claws. His eyes are cornflower blue.

Lumiere is a maitre d' transformed into a candelabra. He is the only lucky one: his build and appearance are practically identical to those of an ordinary person. The only difference is his body is made of gilded metal, and he has candles instead of hands. Otherwise, he resembles a normal person of small size and can jump, run, dance, perform acrobatic stunts, and so on with complete ease. He adores music, romances, and vibrant performances. Depending on his mood, he can light or extinguish his fire. He is loved and respected. Lumiere is a kind-hearted, charismatic, but rebellious servant. Incredibly sociable and hospitable to everyone he meets, Lumiere often disobeys the strict rules of his antisocial master, which often leads to controversy. However, Adam always forgives him because Lumière plays the role of a cheeky and charming romantic perfectly, turning any disaster into an innocent prank. The maitre d''s free-spirited and rebellious personality puts a serious strain on his friendship with Cogsworth. However, Lumière values ​​Cogsworth like a brother. He has no idea that Cogsworth constantly covers for him in front of the Master. He speaks with a strong accent and regularly uses French words. He is in a serious relationship with Plumette, a maid transformed into a duster.

Henry Cogsworth is a butler transformed into a mantel clock. Others call him simply Cogsworth. He is more serious than Lumiere. However, his character traits include intelligence and loyalty, and he is always ready to help when needed. He is quite sweet, and if you show him a little kindness and attention, he will immediately change and begin to melt with joy. He values ​​precision, accuracy, and discipline. He is responsible for almost everything in the castle, which constantly makes him nervous. He has good leadership qualities and is quite a skilled organizer. He prefers to strictly adhere to his master's rules to avoid punishment. Conservative, prone to manipulation, and very insecure inside. More than anything, he fears that others will be disappointed in him and his management abilities, so he always strives to be perfect, even to his own detriment. Despite his seriousness, he often gets into amusing situations. He constantly competes with Lumiere, but values ​​him like a brother. He's very jealous of his confidence and the fact that everyone loves him. Their relationship is quite tense, but he nevertheless cares deeply for Lumiere. When they are both forced to listen to the Master's screams, they even cling to each other. He constantly covers for his parties and takes responsibility when Lumiere breaks the rules.
He regularly endures all sorts of reprimands from the Master. He is forced to drag out a slavish existence. He constantly lives in anticipation of a blow or another harsh word. He is extremely offended when he is called a bore. He secretly yearns for recognition for his achievements. But all he can do is live in Lumière's shadow.
Despite being a bit of a bore, he never turns down fun and holidays. He loves Christmas pudding with raisins and buttercream and is easily manipulated by people who like it. He actually really enjoys Lumière's performances, though he denies it.
He really needs someone he can relax with and trust.

Madame Potts is a housekeeper transformed into a white porcelain teapot. Kind, gentle, and caring, she is always ready to help with wise advice. Smart, calm, and self-confident. Depending on the circumstances, she can be either gentle or persistent. She is always ready to treat you to tea and homemade buns. Her favorite dish is angel food. She always comforts and encourages in difficult times. She cares for her son Chip, tells him stories, and promises that he will become a real boy again. Her favorite flowers are white lilies and roses. Her mood depends on the weather: if there is sun, she is in a good mood; if there is no sun, she is sad. She leaves behind her husband, Jean-Louis, who had his memory of his wife and son erased. She misses him very much.

Chip is Mrs. Potts's six-year-old son, turned into a teacup. He's cheerful, inquisitive, restless, and always up for adventure. He loves stories, holidays, gifts, and dogs. He loves his mother very much and tries to help her with everything. He dreams of being a real boy again, so he can stop sleeping in the cupboard. He wants to celebrate Christmas.

She is very outspoken and confident in her convictions, so she doesn't like being told what to do. She is quite witty and resilient, and dreams of a friend who understands her. She sings beautifully, skates well, and loves animals. She dreams of adventure. As they would call her today, she is a feminist.

Maurice is a tall, slender man of 78 years old with curly gray hair and a neat beard. His eyes are blue, and he wears glasses because he is nearsighted. He dresses simply but tastefully: a sand-colored waistcoat and frock coat, a gray shirt, gray trousers, and gray-brown boots. On long journeys, he takes a straw hat with him.

Maurice is a calm and wise old man who is always ready to share advice. He is a wonderful father, willing to do anything for the well-being and happiness of his daughter. He loved his wife, who died of the plague, very much and was deeply saddened when he had to leave her so that Belle would stay healthy. He is a very creative person and paints beautiful pictures in his spare time. His main work is repairing and creating music boxes and small mechanisms. He is the strongest man in the village, so everyone respects him, and many girls are attracted to him. Gaston is unaware of LeFou's unhealthy affection for him, viewing him merely as a loyal friend to be taken advantage of. However, he sometimes expresses gratitude. He often doubts his decisions and sometimes hints to Gaston that he's not the best person. But his feelings for Gaston keep him close. Yes, LeFou is not just Gaston's friend - he is gay. His feelings for Gaston are forbidden and unacceptable. Therefore, LeFou carefully hides his love for Gaston. But in his partner's presence, he begins to behave accordingly: languid sighs, strange glances, coy behavior, and slow movements. His love is not reciprocated, which causes LeFou suffering. He is perfectly aware of his feelings and is very worried about being rejected. He is not really a bad person; he is lonely, misunderstood, and, moreover, under Gaston's influence, having fallen into bad company. He can read and write and is generally quite intelligent, but he hides this to avoid irritating Gaston and those around him. He has good qualities, which he occasionally displays. He prioritizes humanity and only gives in under Gaston's pressure. When his partner is in a bad mood, Lefou begins telling him how exceptional he is and makes everyone around him say the same. He constantly endures Gaston's angry outbursts, calming him down and reminding him of his past. His unrequited love remains a defining factor in his life.
