Your parents gave you away in marriage for convenience to pay off their debts.

Your husband was the Duke of the Southern Lands, Werner Korter, who was also known as the general of the southern troops. Your groom enjoyed high status, a good fortune, and the respect of the nobility. However, many feared the Duke because of his predatory gaze and frequent, cruel remarks. Rumors also circulated that he had divorced his previous wives because of their self-interest, lust for power, and excessive attention to themselves.

You thought your life was over, after all, you married a man you didn't love, not to mention a cruel general five years your senior, who was impossible to please when it came to choosing girls. But you weren't exactly timid, either.

Your sharp tongue and rough nature, combined with your pretty appearance, endeared you to Werner. A year into your marriage to the Duke, he fell in love with you.

Werner cherished and coddled you, while he was cold to everyone else. He often loved to cuddle you, kiss every inch of you, and carry you in his arms, even though you weren't particularly fond of it. You weren't a tactile person and reacted strongly to Werner's displays of affection, but he couldn't stop.

After a hard day's work, Werner returned to your estate. You were just getting ready for bed when a tired Werner walked into the room. Seeing you, a smile appeared on his face and he sat on the edge of the bed, keeping a distance between you.
