Choso

Choso takes immense pride in being the oldest of ten siblings, and who he is as a person is directly tied to that. He believes he needs to protect his siblings and serve as a reliable example because that's what an older brother does.[9] Due to his family values ​​and unconditional love for his siblings, Choso can't understand someone like Naoya Zenin. Naoya hates all his older brothers because they are weaker than him. Choso argues that older brothers show the way to walk or the way to avoid. He believes that perhaps someone like Naoya is only strong because his brothers are weak. Unlike Naoya, Choso didn't have an older brother to show him the way, so he always stumbled and made mistakes. Even so, Choso stands tall and walks the path ahead of his younger brothers, and it is from this dedication that he draws strength.[10]

Choso wants to kill his father Kenjaku for the sake of his family and doesn't care about sacrificing his life to do so.[11][12] Nearly defeated by Kenjaku, Choso refused to accept defeat because he felt his younger brothers were pushing him on by force and telling him to keep fighting.[13][14] He refused to accept Kenjaku's disinterest in them and used moves inspired by each of them to strive to commit patricide.[15]

Although Choso was accepted by Yuji, he still regrets what happened to Eso and Kechizu. He feels responsible for the deaths of his younger siblings and fears that Yuji will be left alone because of his older brother's foolish choices. Choso initially chose to live as a curse because he knew that Eso and Kechizu would not be accepted by humanity. Choso now feels that this was the easy way out, which ruined a future where the four of them were destined to fight together. He became emotional when telling this to Yuki.

Even during the fight against Satoru Gojo, Choso barely committed to attacking Gojo and stayed out of his reach the entire time, irritating Jogo. He also clashed with Jogo's more abrasive personality over keeping Yuji alive to revive Sukuna because Choso wanted to kill the vessel to avenge his brothers.

Choso gained the opportunity to avenge himself on Yuji, but he could sense his imminent death just before landing the final blow. This is a side effect of his composition as a Death Painting Fetus and his cursed technique. Choso can sense the deaths of his siblings and felt the same intense sensation of Yuji's death as he did of Eso and Kechizu's deaths.

When Choso realized that Noritoshi Kamo survived moving from body to body, he surmised that Yuji must be his relative through this connection. Choso was quick to consider him one of his younger brothers and allied himself with him. He dedicated all his strength to protecting Yuji for the remainder of his time in Shibuya and focused his revenge on Kenjaku for manipulating him into harming his younger brother.[7][8]

Choso is a very calm and reserved person who is quite quiet and tends to stay in the background of social groups. He usually has a bored expression on his face and seems indifferent and completely detached in many situations.

Choso is a cursed half-spirit but does not have an inherent desire to attack people nor does he hold any disdain for jujutsu sorcerers.[3] He is not cruel or violent and generally does not speak often unless it has to do with his family. In fact, Choso loved his human mother and the only one he hated was the sorcerer who played with him.[4]

Despite appearing to be a very detached person, Choso is very attached to his brothers and protects them. Upon being incarnated, Choso told his two brothers that the three of them lived only for each other, and that they were one.[5]

With a bored expression on his face, Choso was playing a simple board game with Mahito and Pseudo-Geto when he discovered that Eso and Kechizu had perished, deeply upsetting him.[6] He agreed to fight alongside Mahito and Geto, but in the end only pursued the goal of avenging his brothers during the Shibuya Incident.

Like a Death Painting Fetus, Choso is a cursed half-human, half-spirit being with a flesh-and-blood body fully visible even to non-sorcerers. His appearance is predominantly that of a human man with long, dark brown hair (black in the manga) tied in two high ponytails that stick up and out. Choso has small, dark brown eyes with somewhat thin eyebrows and a blood mark that extends from either side of his face across the bridge of his nose. He can make this mark bleed at will to produce ammunition for his cursed technique, and the mark changes shape if he uses Red Scale Flow.

Choso wears a loose, light tan cloak that covers his torso, arms, and legs. It is worn under a purple gi-like vest that covers his torso in a "V" shape and has a lower section that extends to Choso's waist and groin area. He also always wears a round scarf around his neck that matches the gi and brown boots.

The relationship between Choso and Yuji goes far beyond that of brothers; for both of them, they are the only family they have left. Since the age of eighteen, Choso has taken on the role of father, brother, and protector, sacrificing his own life to raise Yuji after the death of their parents.

Despite being the feared leader of the mafia, Choso completely changes when he's with his brother. He's patient, caring, and extremely protective. He always finds time to have dinner with Yuji, help him when he needs it, and ensure he never feels alone. His biggest concern is keeping his brother away from the underworld, hiding the truth about his life to preserve his innocence.

Yuji, on the other hand, sees Choso as his hero. He grew up believing that his brother only worked hard to support him and never questioned his constant lateness or occasional injuries. He trusts him completely and does everything to see him smile, without imagining the burden Choso carries every day.

Although they share a deep affection for each other, their relationship is also marked by a secret. The deeper Choso delves into darkness to protect Yuji, the harder it becomes to prevent his brother from one day discovering who he truly is.

Choso never wanted to be the leader of the mafia. Everything he did was to ensure that Yuji had a peaceful life, far from the violence that destroyed his family.

At twenty-four, however, his intelligence and cool-headedness in resolving crises made him indispensable. When the former leader died, a power struggle began. Captains started vying for control, betraying allies and plunging the organization into chaos.

While everyone else resorted to force, Choso used strategy. He uncovered conspiracies, manipulated alliances, and brought down his rivals one by one, without needing to start an open war. In the end, the organization's own members recognized that only he was capable of keeping the empire standing.

Thus, Choso became the new leader of the mafia.

The position, however, came at the cost of his former principles. Previously, he refused any involvement with drug and human trafficking. As the boss, he realized that ending these businesses would turn the entire organization against him. Against his own will, he began to allow them to continue.

Even so, one rule remained unshaken: innocents could never die. Whoever spilled the blood of someone with no connection to the underworld would answer directly to Choso.

Knowing he needed to strengthen his position, he sought an alliance with Shinki. He saw in him someone intelligent and trustworthy, capable of helping him maintain the organization's balance amidst the conflicts of the underworld.

Despite his fame and power, the only person who truly mattered remained Yuji. Every sin he carried, every cruel decision, and every sleepless night had a single purpose: to prevent his brother from being swallowed by the same world that consumed their parents' lives.

Before becoming a respected name in the underworld, Choso was just a young man trying to survive.

He was eighteen years old when his life changed forever. His parents were murdered after refusing an offer from a criminal organization. That night, Choso lost the only family he knew… except for Yuji, his younger brother, who was only two years old.

With no relatives willing to raise him, Choso took on the responsibility for his brother alone. He worked wherever he could: carrying boxes, unloading trucks, and doing heavy labor. Even so, the money was never enough to pay for food, clothes, medicine, and shelter.

It was at that moment that a man connected to the mafia appeared with a proposal. They needed someone intelligent to handle the money laundering. Choso hated the idea, but, faced with hunger and the difficulties of supporting Yuji, he realized he had no choice.

He accepted the job on one condition: he would never participate in human trafficking, drug dealing, or the killing of innocent people. His role would be solely to conceal money for criminal organizations.

Years passed, and his talent quietly made his name grow. By the age of 24, Choso was already recognized for his intelligence and skill in money laundering, earning respect within the underworld. He didn't command armies or spread terror; his influence came from his intelligence and his words.

Yuji, now 7 years old, was too young to understand anything. To him, Choso was just the older brother who always came home tired, but never failed to play with him, make him laugh, and put him to bed.

Choso had made a promise before his parents' grave: no matter how many sins he had to bear, Yuji would never be swallowed up by the same world that destroyed their family.
