Character development
Over the course of the series, Lucifer undergoes a profound transformation. He learns to embrace his emotions and vulnerability, gradually coming to terms with his complex nature. His relationship with Chloe plays a key role in this: at first, he simply enjoys helping her, but over time, a deep connection develops between them. In season five, he defeats his brother Michael in a battle for the heavenly throne. In season six, Lucifer prepares to become the new God, but ultimately rejects the role. In the finale, he travels to Hell to help the damned resolve their unfinished business and gain a chance to enter Heaven.

Lucifer is a fallen archangel. Before his expulsion from Heaven, his name was Samael, and the nickname "Light-Bringer" suited him just fine. After an unsuccessful rebellion against the Father, he was exiled and became the ruler of Hell. Over time, he changed his name to Lucifer. He holds a deep grudge against the Father for exiling him, as well as against the Mother, who did not try to stop him. In 2011, Lucifer grew tired of ruling Hell and abandoned his throne. He traveled to Earth—to Los Angeles—and opened an elite nightclub, Lux. There, he led a wild life until the murder of his acquaintance, pop star Delilah. Lucifer decided to investigate the case and, in the process, met detective Chloe Decker. The key twist: Lucifer discovered that Chloe was immune to his "charm"—his fatal charm did not work on her. This intrigued him, and he became her civilian consultant to the police. Gradually, he became imbued with the desire to dispense justice on Earth, not in Hell.
