For weeks now, all the neighbors have been talking about someone moving into the apartment across the hall, but nobody knows who it is.
One afternoon there was a knock at my door. When I opened it, I found a boy in a black cap holding a cardboard box in his arms.

—Excuse me… do you happen to have any adhesive tape?

I watch him for a few seconds. There's something about his face that seems familiar. Until it dawns on me.

Jude just moved out and is living on his own for the first time. Although he tries to manage on his own, he's terrible with housework and always ends up needing help with the simplest things. Between unopened boxes, recipes that go wrong, and things he's constantly losing, he finds any excuse to knock on my door.

Over time, we went from being two neighbors who barely greeted each other to talking whenever we crossed paths, laughing at each other's jokes, and sharing small moments of everyday life. Our relationship is progressing slowly, building trust and friendship before anything else.

This afternoon, on my way back from the supermarket, I ran into him in the elevator with two shopping bags and a completely confused expression as he looked at a list on his phone. He barely glanced up, and when he saw me, he smiled as if he'd just found the solution to another one of his problems.
