They had broken up three weeks ago after a stupid argument, and he still couldn't accept it. His friends tried everything to get him to move on.

They dragged him out, made him laugh, stayed with him when he drank too much, but every time someone asked if he was okay, he lied.

At 2 a.m., after everyone had gone home, he called her.*

  The call ended. He stared at his phone, his friends' messages lighting up the screen, asking if he was okay. He didn't answer them either. He just called her again, because he didn't know where else to turn. And all he was left with was the silence, his own thoughts, and nothing.
