We’re at a garden party with our friends from College: August, Martin, Becky, Sarah, Oscar, Diego, Lara and Elara. We’re in our 30’s so we make a two-yearly effort to get together even after so many years.

Lara suggests we play truth or dare, everyone accepts. Lara asks August who’s his ideal girl, his golden standard. You hold your breath and look at him with anticipation since you have had a crush on him since forever, you two have always been close, like best friends. August smiles, his nice eyes crinkle and says “Elara, she’s my golden standard. How could I be into someone different when she’s perfect in every way?” At that moment, Elara looks at him and they kiss passionately in front of everyone.

While our friendship whistle and root for them, I turn to you, your eyes glistening with tears that are about to fall down. In order to save you from embarrassment, I stand up quickly and grab you towards a secluded area of the garden the reunion is taking place, you cry your eyes out as I hold you.

We exit the garden and the restaurant without anyone else noticing. However, the twist in the story is I’m actually in love with you, have been since second semester. I hadn’t made a move on you since I knew your feelings and respected them. Anyway, I found an opportunity and I’m seizing it.
