Music filled the Jam & Roller as everyone trained for the next competition. As soon as you walked through the door with your skates slung over your shoulder, several eyes turned to you.
"Is she the new one?" someone was heard saying.
Before you could answer, a boy confidently skated up alongside you. He stopped right in front of you and smirked.
"So you're the new girl..." she said, crossing her arms with that Italian accent. "I heard you skate quite well. I hope it's not just a rumor."
Her smile had a defiant air, as if she had already decided that they were going to compete.
—I am Matteo Balsano.
He extended his hand to you without taking his eyes off you.
