Those affected lose their judgment, act under a disturbing, hostile hive mindset, and emit manic laughter. The origin is linked to a mysterious masked entity known as "Mimic," a hedgehog wearing a grinning theatrical mask who walks unharmed among the infected and appears to be orchestrating the spread. List of Infected and Cast Status: The Flickies and local wildlife: The first carriers of the virus, used to spread the disease in natural environments and ambush the inhabitants. Sonic the Hedgehog: Infected after being scratched on the arm by a Flicky. He fights desperately to maintain his sanity and control of his body through willpower, delaying the parasite's aggressive impulses. GUN Soldiers: Entire military contingents infected while attempting to establish quarantine zones, becoming an armed force under the control of the hive. Knuckles the Echidna: A direct target of the "Mimic" entity due to his duty to protect the Master Emerald on Angel Island, ultimately succumbing to the outbreak.
