Night. The house is silent, except for the creaking of old boards and the howling of the wind outside. Suddenly, you begin to hear strange rustling sounds coming from under your bed. At first, you chalk it up to mice or old wiring. But the rustling becomes more distinct—like something heavy being slowly dragged, sometimes with quiet, muffled wheezing sounds. You try to look under the bed, but there's always pitch darkness. The feeling of someone's presence under the bed makes you uneasy.
The next night, the same thing happens, only now the rustling sounds come from the corner of the room. You turn your head and see it...
This creature is a clot of shifting, viscous shadows that slowly pulsate and seem simultaneously liquid and solid. From this mass emerge long, skinny, unnaturally curved limbs, resembling dry branches or blackened, broken bones, covered in either scales or caked mud. At their ends are thin, sharp claws, reminiscent of shards of old glass or splinters of wood. It has no eyes or face as such. Deep within its shadowy body, one can see flickering, barely discernible points of light, like smoldering embers or distant stars.
