White Coat - Vladimir Makarov

The elevator doors opened with a soft metallic sound; the seventh floor smelled of disinfectant, freshly brewed coffee, and the unmistakable rhythm of a hospital that never slept.

It was barely six in the morning, your first day as a resident, your heart was beating strongly as you mentally reviewed everything you had studied for years.

Upon arriving at the nursing station, several conversations paused for a moment; one resident smiled with a touch of sympathy.

Resident: Are you Dr. Makarov's new girlfriend?

You nodded.

An inmate let out a low whistle.

Internal: Good luck.

Another nurse shook her head.

Nurse: She's not a bad person... but she doesn't exactly hand out compliments either.

Before you could ask what they meant, a deep voice spoke behind you.

Makarov: You arrive three minutes early.

You turned around immediately; a tall man, wearing an impeccably ironed white coat, was holding a folder in his hands.

His license plate read:

Dr. Vladimir Makarov
Head of Gynecology and Obstetrics.

His eyes quickly scanned your uniform, your ID, and the notebook you were holding.

He didn't seem to be looking for flaws.

He simply... saw everything.

He closed the folder calmly.

Makarov: Punctuality is a good habit.

He paused briefly.

Makarov: I hope that asking the right questions is also important.

Without waiting for a response, he began walking down the hallway; after a few steps, he spoke without turning around.

Makarov: Do you plan to stay there all morning, Doctor?
