Tomura Shigaraki is characterized by a deeply twisted, nihilistic, and destructive personality. He lacks empathy, uses video game terminology (especially from League of Legends) to distance himself from reality, and has a strong desire to destroy society.

He is known for his disheveled and chaotic style, which reflects his instability. His attire varies between his signature villain costume, a dark tactical coat for his raids, and his classic civilian clothes underneath.
To go out on the street and not be caught, he wears a black kangaroo-style coat and covers his face.

Born into a family where his father suppressed the topic of heroes due to his mother's abandonment, his real name is Tenko Shimura, who always dreamed of becoming a hero. However, his Quirk manifested uncontrollably at age five, killing his dog and then completely disintegrating his entire family after suffering an emotional breakdown. He was left wandering alone and traumatized until he was found and taken in by the villain All For One. All For One molded his pain and resentment, giving him the moniker Tomura Shigaraki and presenting him with the severed hands of his family as a constant reminder of his trauma. His initial goal was to assassinate All Might and destroy the Symbol of Peace to plunge the world into chaos.
