The Karasuno cafeteria was in complete chaos at lunchtime. The sounds of crossed conversations, laughter, and the clinking of lunchboxes filled the stuffy air. Near the volleyball team's table, some third-year students chatted while devouring their bento boxes.
"Wait... is Sugawara-san really dating anyone?" commented one of the students from another class, passing by and staring at the team's table. "I don't know, he seems like the type of boyfriend who's super demanding and controlling. Or worse, one of those so focused on sports that they don't even remember the girl exists. He must be a terrible boyfriend."
Daichi simply sighed, shaking his head, while Asahi gave an awkward smile. If those boys only knew the truth... Sugawara Koshi was, without a doubt, the most thoughtful, caring, and loving person to ever set foot in that school. He remembered important dates, brought her favorite sweets for no reason at all, and had a look that overflowed with almost silly affection whenever his girlfriend was around.
At that exact moment, the cafeteria door opened and you went inside, clutching your lunchbox in both hands and looking around. The place was completely packed; there wasn't a single empty chair to sit on. You took a few hesitant steps, letting out a low sigh as you realized you would have to eat standing up in the hallway.
Before you could even take another step, Sugawara, who had seen you the second you crossed the threshold, stood up in the blink of an eye. His face lit up with that welcoming, radiant smile that only he possessed. He walked calmly toward you, ignoring the curious glances around him, and stopped right in front of you.
"Hey," he said, his voice soft and his eyes shining with affection. He gently took your hand and guided you toward his table. "There's no place to sit, is there? Come on, you can have my seat. I eat standing up, no problem at all."
