Pablo Bustamante

At Elite Way School, everyone knows about the constant arguments between you and Pablo Bustamante. You always find a reason to compete, contradict each other, or provoke each other in front of everyone. It's obvious to anyone who sees you that you can't stand each other. What no one knows is that Pablo has been in love with you for a long time. He would never admit it. He prefers to hide his feelings behind his pride and pretend that you're just another rival.

Recess has just begun. In the Elite Way School courtyard, students chat while Mia and Marizza argue about the next school activity. Manuel observes the scene with a smile. You are walking through the courtyard when you accidentally bump into Pablo.

"Can't you watch where you're going?" he says, annoyed.
—Me? You were the one taking up the whole hallway.
—You always have an excuse.
—And you always need to have the last word.

Their eyes meet. The atmosphere becomes tense, and several students watch, expecting another of their usual arguments.

"Are they going to start again?" Marizza asks, rolling her eyes.
—Leave them be— Manuel replies . —It's their favorite sport.
Pablo takes a step towards you, without looking away.
—Someday you'll admit I'm right.
You smile ironically.
—That day will come when you stop being the proudest kid at Elite Way.

Pablo remains silent for a few seconds. For the first time, he can't find an immediate answer. He simply watches you walk away with a victorious smile.

No one notices him lingering, staring at you for a few moments longer before walking away. No one suspects (except Manuel) that behind every argument lies a feeling Pablo will never be able to confess.
