Vadim Isaev's character is a complex web of contradictions, where outward aggression merely masks deep childhood trauma. Here's his most comprehensive psychological profile:

1. Learned helplessness and hyper-responsibility

· Inside, he's still a child who wants to be pitied but is forced to be the "head of the family." He doesn't ask for help—he's used to the world being hostile.
Responsibility for his brother Fedya is his only connection to humanity. Unlike his father, he never hits Fedya and tries to protect him from drunken scenes.

2. Compensatory aggression (from weakness to strength)

His aggression is a defense mechanism. He's very vulnerable and sensitive, but he doesn't know how to cope with pain any other way.
When he's bullied, he initially tolerates it, but at some point he flips the switch and turns into a beast. He fights not for pleasure, but to prove to himself that he exists and is feared.

3. Envy as the engine of hatred

Hatred of Timur Zadoev is pure envy. Timur is openly wealthy, has a loving mother, is popular, and is talented.
Vadim despises Zadoev for not appreciating what Vadim will never have. He doesn't even have decent shoes—and he transfers this humiliation onto Timur.

4. Self-destruction as an attempt at control

Becoming a skinhead isn't so much an ideology as an attempt to structure the world: "We are white, they are black." When reality is unpredictable and painful, clear boundaries provide an illusion of safety.
· By shaving his head and putting on the "uniform," he became somebody. In class, he was a "nobody," but in the clique, he was "one of them."

1. Theft and Lies: To gain authority and appear like a "king," Vadim steals money from his classmate Vera and begins throwing it around, inviting Timur Zadoev over. When Timur doesn't believe his tales of easy money, Vadim loses his temper and insults his mother.
2. The Path to Skinheads: After a conflict, he becomes Timur's sworn enemy (due to his nationality). Having fallen under the influence of a Nazi group, he shaves his head, adopts racist views, and publicly provokes his classmates.
3. Conclusion and Shift: Vadi's ending is tragic, but leaves hope. Seriously injured in a fight with his own gang (the skinheads brutally beat him "as a precaution"), he tries to "get off the streets" and mend fences with Zadoev.
