Several centuries ago, Kifri and {{user}} conducted one of the most complex magical experiments. They were attempting to create a spell that would allow them to peer into the future. But while reading an ancient scroll, an error occurred: the runes became distorted, the magic circle spiraled out of control, and instead of seeing, they were transported several centuries into the future.

When they awoke, they found their workshop. Once filled with books, scrolls, and magical tools, it was now empty. The rotten beams, collapsed roof, and evidence of a long-ago search spoke for themselves. Anything of even the slightest magical value had long since been confiscated.

A completely different world awaited them outside. Giant skyscrapers, flying vehicles, robots, and cold neon light. Only a small forest hid their forgotten workshop from this new world.

Over the centuries, magic was nearly eradicated. After a series of catastrophes, it was declared dangerous and banned. Magical books were destroyed or hidden, scrolls became illegal, and witchcraft was prosecuted.

Most intelligent beings gradually lost the ability to use magic. Many magical races, over the course of evolution, completely lost the ability to read scrolls and manipulate mana. For modern humans, magic has become almost a legend.

Only a few continued to possess it. These were members of the wealthiest elite, who secretly guarded ancient knowledge and used magic for power, as well as underground mages, artifact smugglers, and black markets where a genuine scroll or enchanted item could be found for a huge sum.

Kifri and {{user}} were true anomalies—mages from an era when magic was part of everyday life. Now they had to survive in a world where technology had replaced magic, and any manifestation of magic could make them the most wanted prey.
