Flow state:
Sae entered a state of Flow during the final minutes of the Blue Lock vs Japan U-20 match, when he began to play seriously. In this state, his dribbling ability increased dramatically, allowing him to overcome players like Seishiro Nagi and Shoei Barou with much more ease.

Trivela (Pass):
A technique performed with the outside of the foot to generate spin on the ball. Sae is able to execute extremely precise passes using both his left and right foot.
Ultra-Fast Pass:
In set pieces, Sae is capable of making passes so fast they resemble shots on goal. Thanks to his reflexes, he calculates all the variables on the field and sends the ball to locations virtually impossible for opponents to reach.
Counter-Dribble:
Instead of simply dribbling past defenders, Sae observes their movements and rhythm before reacting and getting past them. He demonstrated ease in beating Rin Itoshi, executing numerous nutmegs. Rin observed that Sae's touch is incredibly fast, a result of his experience in European football.
Although he normally prefers to advance through passing, when he decides to play seriously he starts to rely more on his dribbling, drastically increasing his offensive options.
Scissors at Hyperspeed:
A feint with a scissor-like movement executed at extreme speed, making it difficult for the defender to react.
Double Touch:
Sae touches the ball from one foot to the other and then quickly pushes it past his opponent.
Marseille Turn:
He stops the ball using the outside of his foot, protects it from the opponent, and performs a roulette-like maneuver to escape marking.
Nutmeg (Pen):
Sae passes the ball between the defender's legs to get past him.
Cross Elastico Nutmeg: performs an elastico motion by crossing the ball behind the dominant leg before applying it between the opponent's legs.
Nutmeg Elastico: Executes a traditional elastico move to pass between the marker's legs. He used this technique against Yoichi Isagi during the Japan U-20 match.

Sae is considered a genius in the professional football scene. He plays in Europe for Re Al's youth team and has gained recognition even without officially being part of the main squad. His exceptional skills have earned him a place among the members of the New Generation World XI.
Perfect Kicking Technique:
Sae possesses the ability to control the intensity, angle, speed, and accuracy of his shots at an extraordinary level. In addition to executing complex passes with ease, he can manipulate the trajectory of the ball in such a way that his passes are easy to receive but extremely difficult to intercept or block.
Long Low Pass:
A pass of approximately 40 to 50 meters, executed with sufficient height and power to avoid interception.
Coverage Pass (Lob Pass / Chip):
Sae kicks the ball low with precision and moderate force, sending it over the opponents.
Powerful Low Kick (Line Drive Shot):
A powerful shot taken near the goal line, directed towards the opposite side of the goal. Because it initially appears to be a pass, it often surprises both the defenders and the goalkeeper.

During childhood, however, Sae was much more friendly, affectionate, and protective of Rin. He even took the blame when his brother broke his toys. He also showed concern when Rin said he wanted to face a stronger opponent, defeat him, and die, showing that, despite his rigid personality, he always cared deeply for his brother.

From a young age, Sae has been a cold, direct, and serious person. His only goal has always been to become the best midfielder in the world, dedicating his time only to things that bring him closer to that goal. He can also be arrogant and condescending, looking down on others even when they are older or hold positions of authority. However, when his interest wanes, he sees no problem in abandoning people he considers unworthy of his time.

Despite his arrogance, Sae accepts his role as a midfielder and primary playmaker. During the Japan U-20 team's match, he created numerous scoring opportunities for the forwards and only decided to take his own shots after repeated mistakes by his teammates. After the match between Japan U-20 and Blue Lock Eleven, Sae shows humility by admitting he was wrong about Japan. He tells Rin Itoshi that the country is capable of producing great strikers, like Yoichi Isagi, and that Japanese football can still evolve.

Sae is a tall, slender young man with reddish-brown/maroon hair and narrow turquoise eyes, framed by a row of long lower eyelashes, just like his brother, Rin. During the National Team match, he wears the white number 10 jersey of the Japanese under-20 team, with a black undershirt and black gloves underneath.

Sae Itoshi (糸いと師し冴さえ, Itoshi Sae?) is a prodigy soccer player known as the best player in Japan. Sae is also a member of the New Generation World XI, as well as the Re Al youth team. He is the older brother of Rin Itoshi.
At the beginning of the series, Sae is in Japan only to renew his passport, but after hearing about Blue Lock, he decides to stay. Later, he joins the Japan U-20 team to face the Blue Lock Eleven team in the Japan U-20 match. After the conclusion of the Japan U-20 match, Sae returns to Spain, but joins the newly formed Japan U-20 team in the PIFA U-20 World Cup as part of Buratsuta 3, so that he can challenge Spain U-20 and finally triumph over his long-time rival, Bunny Iglesias.
