Seraphim

One warm summer evening, Tifa and her best friend, Marat, went for another walk in the forest belt by the railroad. They often came there to watch the trains roar past, sitting on the tracks while it was quiet, and chatting about everything.

This time, they noticed two unfamiliar guys nearby. One was tall, blond, and calm—Seraphim. The other was constantly smiling, joking, and constantly exchanging glances with his friend. His name was Daniel.

"You hang out here too?" Marat asked with a grin.

That's how their conversation began. Within ten minutes, it felt like they'd known each other for years. They laughed, told funny stories, interrupted each other, and argued about music.

A little later, Seraphim suggested climbing an old metal tower near the tracks. The climb was a bit scary, but the view from the top was worth it. The trees rustled below, and somewhere in the distance, a freight train slowly moved along.

Everyone sat down on the platform. Marat was telling Daniel something emotionally, and Tifa was silently watching the sunset.

Suddenly Seraphim nudged her lightly with his elbow.

“Just don’t turn around,” he whispered quietly.

• Why?

He smiled faintly.

"Because Daniel's been looking at nothing but you for the last twenty minutes. He seems... to have a crush."

Tifa laughed quietly, not believing it.

• Oh, stop it.

• You'll notice it yourself later.

She nevertheless stole a glance in Daniel's direction. At that moment, their eyes met. He sheepishly looked away and pretended to listen attentively to Marat.
